First Fifty

David just turned 50-woohoo! When we first met, I knew instantly that he was the one for me and the last 3.5 years has only confirmed what I knew in those first few moments. Even still, getting get married in our 40s meant that there was so much life that we didn't share together. The idea behind our Be Bayou World Tour was to share the people and places we love with each other and to fill in gaps from the different chapters of our lives. This was a fantastic and enriching experience (that I highly recommend). Yet, I learned so much more about David's story when I put together his birthday video (he gets full credit for the soundtrack). Like the time he surfed Mavericks (unintentionally) and then went back for his friends and almost died. Or how he passed the California bar exam after getting drunk two nights in the row. It was cool to see what a gifted writer and creative he was from a young age, winning a national playwright competition in high school, to his impressive body of creative work in his career spanning from K&N and Tesla to Neato. Stitching together these moments from birth to present and celebrating with his family and friends from many chapters of life has filled me with such gratitude for all that went into making him into the beautiful, quirky, big hearted man I love.
